This Bead Roller is an extremely useful tool and quite easy to make and use. It is a very sturdy machine capable of rolling aluminium and mild steel up to 1.6mm thick. The depth of the throat is 620mm, but obviously, the whole machine can be altered to suit ones needs.
Operation is simplicity itself: the top shaft and outer bearing block is adjustable by means of an adjuster handle, and the rollers are rotated by either an old steering wheel or a sturdy crank handle.
The adjustable fence can be fitted to either side of the machine for both right handed and left handed operators.
It would be perfectly feasible to motorise the machine using a sewing machine motor remotely coupled to the shaft using a proprietary flexible inline coupler. The sewing machine's variable speed foot pedal could also be incorporated.
The whole machine has a very small footprint, making it ideal for the home workshop and small factory alike.
