This
Sheet Metal Folder is an
extremely easy tool to both make and use. It is also very sturdy (the
clamping and folding beams are 12mm (.5") thick) and capable of bending aluminium
up to 3mm (.120) thick, mild steel up to 2mm thick and stainless steel up to 1.2mm
(.049") thick. The width of the throat is 1300mm
(51"), but obviously, the whole machine
can be lengthened or shortened to suit ones needs.
The clamping beam is spring loaded (using old car valve-springs) to simplify
positioning the sheet. The clamping beam is also fully adjustable fore and
aft by means of two threaded knobs, which results in very accurate bends.
The folding beam is simplicity itself and has a well-positioned stout
handle. The hinges are a total of 40mm (1.6")
thick, thus providing long-lasting
bearing surfaces.
The whole machine has a very small footprint, making it ideal for the home
workshop and small factory alike.
